The town hall of Jaca is an excellent example of Plateresque architecture in Aragón. It was constructed thanks to the work of a number of Basque quarry workers. It turned into a key work for the civil architecture of the 16th century and given its location in Mayor street it became the focal point of town planning of the city. The façade and bases of the building are notable as is the entablature where one can see the coat of arms of Jaca and its renaissance patio where the bells of the clock tower of Jaca are preserved. In addition to being the head office for the local government, it is also the place where valuable historic jewels are kept, such as the Libro de la Cadena del Consejo, a codex made in the 12th century or silver maces dating to the 16th century amongst other things of interest. © Prames
